I was wondering...i've been running the Mugen N1 ECU with my JRSC for a while and I really had no problems. I went to the dyno and ran it against my stock ECU and saw a much smoother curve on the Mugen than the ECU which had dips and spikes everywhere. Also, I had more power on the Mugen...but am I really losing something by having the Mugen ECU...since I have no benchmark.

    THanks.

And another thing...is it practical/feasible to buy any of the A/F controllers like the Apex'i with the Mugen or should it only be used with the Stock ECU.

This is very tricky as many people do not have the Mugen or have had much experience in it. Partly because it is a very expensive computer.

PLEASE HELP OUT THERE!!!!!! This is boggling my curious mind.

I would be careful with that ECU. That is a N/A ECU meant for high reving n/a engines. Typical mods to those ecus are advantanced timing higher rev limit. NOT that good of an idea for a SC engine.

If you made more power with the mugen ECU is because you were running more timing.

Timing I'm not as concerned with...I have the J&S installed and I do use 104 octane boost on regular occasion. The J&S only retards timing during really hot days.

My rev limiter is set at 9200 right now due to the Mugen computer.

But, I'm still not convinced or enlightened...what exactly is SO bad, and am I better off putting my stock ECU back in.

My car is a '98 ITR from Cali, someone told me that the ECU in Cali is very restrictive...didn't make sense to me.

I have the mugen ecu and I tried it with my charger and it did seem to give a little more power but i do not run it because the more aggressive timing curve on the mugen ecu is a little too risky for me. You may be seeing more power because of the timing curve or the lower vtec crossover. I am running a 95 GSR ecu and I got more power with the vtec crossover lower. The power with the mugen will be fun till you have to put new rings in...just a thought. But if its workin why mess with it.

i just dont understand why anyone would get a preset ECU for your modified car. they dont know what u modified, so it wouldnt really take full advantage of getting a tuned ECU. and u get more power because you are likely to run leaner with the mugen ECU. remember that N/A cars runs at like 14:1 - 16:1 air/fuel ration, OUCH for FI cars hee hee. we need to stay near more like 12-13:1.
